ROLEPLAY GUIDELINES

Not technically rules, but a good place for reference. We will constantly update this section. These are just comments and suggestions taken from seasoned RPers and myself.

1. Get into character to help tell a story. The most fun and immersive role-player’s (RPers) are the closest thing to actors. We use RP to escape reality and enjoy ourselves, so get immersed. Use a catch phrase or action in game to really delve into your character. You may surprise yourself.

2. Give your character life beyond just getting into shootouts. Yes, it is everyone’s dream to be a badass, gun slinging cowboy and be the hero of our own adventure. But, playing a live action NPC can be quite fun. Some RPers love just being that ‘extra’ that interacts with locals (NPCs) or even gets mistaken for a local. (I know I got a kick out of it when someone exclaimed, “Oh shit, I thought you were a local”)

3. RP scenarios with others should be a collaborative effort. Good RPers make an effort for both parties to enjoy the RP, not just themselves. (RP is a two way street, and if you want good RP you must give good RP)

4. Do not force your RP style on someone else. If someone starts to walk away from a scenario or interaction, let them go, we do not encourage harassment. Sometimes brief encounters with others are the most memorable.

5. Combat RP – Murder should be a last resort, but combat can be a fun exciting experience. Try to keep in mind, sometimes, taking a loss or ‘taking the L’ is actually great RP. Mature RPers are able to understand taking the L helps to develop more RP than constantly having the ‘win at all cost’ mentality. Interacting with doctors and law as a victim is also a fun experience.

6. Criminal RP – This can be one of the toughest RP roles to take on and the first one to be done poorly. You should have respect for the player behind the character. Do not just go out and do crime for no reason. RP it out, and let every action have an RP reason. That reason should not be that you are bored.

7. Robbery RP – The fear of being robbed adds to the excitement of the game. But, please keep in mind, in a matter of minutes, you are taking potentially hours of hard work away from this player. This can frustrate anyone which can make them hate the player and the game. When you rob or force other players into your RP, remember that you are responsible for their RP also, and everyone must come out of the scene with a good RP experience.
